Since edging Williamson to start 2023, the Wellsboro Lady Hornets dropped their second consecutive game, and five out of their last six, their most recent being a 41-21 loss to Troy on Tuesday, January 10.
Troy outscored Wellsboro 11-3 in the first quarter and held them to just 8 total points in the first half en route to the win. The Lady Hornets were able 13 points in the second half, but were held to just 9 made baskets from the floor.
Three Lady Hornets scored on the evening, led by sophomore Chloe Brandenburg with 10. Sophomore Paige Logsdon finished with 9 points and senior Ella Posada pitched in two points. Logsdon and senior Hailie Kerr added 9 and 4 rebounds, respectively while Brandenburg added 3 boards and 2 steals.
There was no JV game.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 3-8 (3-3 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action at Wyalusing on Thursday, January 12.
