Chilson Sisters Place 3rd and 4th at Matness at the MACC

Senior Olivia Chilson and sophomore Alyssa Chilson placed 3rd and 4th, respectively, at the Matness at the MACC tournament at Montgomery on Monday, January 15.
Wellsboro placed 16th out of 19 teams on the afternoon. The team scored 32 points, edging Danville (17) and beating Mechanicsburg (29) and Muncy (12).
Olivia Chilson went 4-1 on the day. She started the tournament with a 3:23 pin fall against Panther Valley's Kadance Wentz in the opening round, then pinned Pine Grove's Paige Somers in 34 seconds. In the third round she pinned Shikellamy's Jersey Herb in 3:08, but fell to Hughesville's Alaina Hicks in a 1:11 pin. In her final match, she pinned Boiling Springs' Ahnika Hoover in 4:12.
Alyssa Chilson won her first two matches, pinning Central Columbia's Baylee O'Conell in 1:17 and edging Milton's Adelyn Bush in a 10-9 decision before falling to Camp Hill's Emmalee Sabo in the 3rd round in a 58 second pin. In her quarterfinal round match, Chilson scored an injury default over Montgomery's Emily Murphy but fell to Boiling Springs' Isabelle Allen (injury default) in the semi-finals. In the 3rd place match Hughesville's Abbigale Bowman won via forfeit.
Sophomore Megan Robbins placed 12th in the tournament. She won her first match, pinning Milton's Cage Farr in 1:17, but fell to Muncy's Deja Roark in a 7-5 decision in round two. Robbins fell to Benton's Callie Hess in 31 seconds in her third match, was pinned by Shikellamy's Skyler Weist in 3:37 in her consolation match, then forfeited to Farr in the 11th place match.
"I'm really proud of the progress of all of our girls," coach Bryce Bitner said. "Megan, Alyssa, and Olivia have really improved since we started. They've adapted so quickly and have been a great group to coach. The more matches they wrestle, the better they get. We had a great turnout against Muncy and Williamsport, and for them to go down and battle against some very tough teams today and have two placers was huge for us. They have made us so proud and will continue to going forward."
