The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team ended their regular season with a 4-0 loss at Loyalsock on Tuesday, October 15.
"This was a tough pill to swallow. We more than doubled Loyalsockâs shots on goal and had significantly more corner kicks," head coach Todd Fitch said. "However, at the end of the game all that really matters is that they were 4 for 4 with their opportunities. The post-season starts in a week. We better figure things out or it's going to be much shorter than we prepared for."
The Lancers scored once in the first half, then padded their lead with three goals in the second. Loyalsock only took 4 shots on goal to Wellsboro's 11. Wellsboro also had a 16-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Wellsboro won the JV game 3-1 as sophomore Dylan Tomlinson scored a pair of goals and freshman Mason Brill scored one. Freshman Michael Seeling assisted on Tomlinson's first goal and sophomore Peter Doan assisted on Brill's goal. The JV team finishes their season with a 12-1-2 record.
The NTL Champion Hornets end the regular season 14-4 overall and had a perfect 12-0 league record.
Wellsboro currently sits 5th in the District IV Class 2A standings, and will await their opponent in next week's playoffs.
