Sophomore Lauren Kosek ran 19:41 to win the Lasagna Invite at Wyalusing on Friday, September 6.
Kosek was the only female runner to break the 20-minute mark on the afternoon.
Wellsboro finished the girls race in 6th overall with 121 places. Elk Lake won the race with 42 places followed by Towanda (51), Wyalusing (73), North Penn-Mansfield (102), and Sullivan County (110).
Junior Sophia Yoder finished 28th in 26:40, freshman Molly Tice (27:34) was 31st, senior Karah Blackwell (28:35) took 33rd, freshman Anja Przybycien (29:38) finished 37th, and freshman Luisa Crocco (33:59) was 41st.
In the boys race the Hornets finished 4th as a team with 94 places, to edged out Sullivan County (105) and North Penn-Mansfield (123). Towanda (37) won the race with Wyalusing (69) and Canton (82) finishing in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Junior Max Macias paced the Hornets with a 3rd place overall finish in 17:15 while junior Henry Whitney (19:04) finished 9th. Junior Ethan Geneski (22:05) finished 31st, freshman Lane Cozby (22:13) was 32nd, freshman Jack Hammerton (24:09) came home in 41st, and junior Henry Nowak (25:43) rounded out the team in 47th.
In the Junior High girls race, Kaci Kosek was 2nd overall in 12:09 while Brianna O'Shea Bowers (16:12) was 29th. For the boys, Austin DeShazo (12:55) was 14th and Jacob Patterson (14:08) finished 19th.
The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, September 10 against Northeast Bradford and Troy.
