Wellsboro's Girls Wresting team scored the program's first-ever dual match victory on Wednesday, January 31 edging Elmira 7-6.
Junior Megan Robbins won her match at 124 lbs. via forfeit while Elmira's Mackenna Burnette scored a pin fall over sophomore Alyssa Chilson at 130 lbs.
Wellsboro won the match on criteria as they gave up less forfeits.
"Although there wasn't a ton of wrestling tonight as both teams have been hit with the injury/illness bug, it was still cool to see that victory in the score book," head coach Bryce Bitner said. "For us to get a dual meet victory in our first year and have so many females showing improvement and promise for the program is awesome. All of our females are working really hard to improve and we’re all excited to see girls wrestling grow."
Wellsboro (1-3) travels to Jersey Shore on Tuesday, February 6.
