Junior Paige Logsdon grabbed her 500th career rebound in Wellsboro's 30-24 Senior Night win over Athens on Friday, January 26.

Logsdon reached the milestone in the 2nd half.

The Lady Hornets trailed 10-6 after the first quarter but went on a 9-4 run in the 2nd to take a one-point, 15-14, lead into halftime. Wellsboro outscored the Lady Wildcats 8-3 in the third and allowed just 10 total points in the half to secure their second straight win.

"It was great to get a win on senior night," head coach Darrell Morris said. "We yielded 10 points to Athens in the first quarter and did not do a good job rebounding early on, which gave them second chance points, but from the second quarter on, we really locked them down defensively."

Junior Chloe Brandenburg led all scorers with 13 points, senior Maddy Mascho added 7, senior Emily Morris pitched in 5 points, Logsdon finished with 3, and senior Hannah Gilmour added a point. Morris led the team with 11 rebounds on the night while Logsdon grabbed 8 putting her currently at 504 for her career. Brandenburg grabbed 5 boards and made 2 assists and a steal, Mascho had 3 assists and 3 steals, and senior Emily Richardson grabbed 4 boards.

McKenna Jarvis and Addy Wheeler both scored 9 points to lead Athens.

"We have a great group of seniors who are so selfless and team players," continued Morris. "Maddy is a well-rounded player who quietly takes charge of offense and defense and gives everything she has for us for 32 minutes. Emily Morris is also a well-rounded player, who we always match up on the opponents best scorer. She plays every position for us and has worked so hard. Emily Richardson is a great role player who doesn't always have flashy stats, but does all the little hustle things that coaches love.  A very reliable kid. Hannah plays an important role off of the bench and gives us valuable minutes in the paint. She is a great teammate and supports the younger girls as a mentor. And of course a big thanks to our senior manager, Maddy Callahan, who serves an important role in setting up for practices and filming our games. Our two juniors showed up tonight too, with Chloe leading us in scoring again and Paige grabbing her 500th rebound."

Wellsboro swept the evening, winning the JV game 22-10. Sophomore Lily Wagner had 8 to lead the Lady Hornets while Gilmour and freshman Elizabeth Ferero had 6 points each.

The Lady Hornets (7-8, 5-7 NTL Large School Division) turn right around and square off in a non-league game with Coudersport later this afternoon.
