Troy rolled to a 56-13 win over NP-Mansfield during NTL football action.
Brendan Gilliland got things started with two big running plays for touchdowns. He ran 52-yards to pay dirt just over a minute into the game as Gavin Lykon-Leffler made it 7-0 with the PAT.
Gilliland then scored from 75-yards out with 5:10 on the clock in the first. Lykon-Leffler’s kick was good for the 14-0 lead.
Reed Palmer then made it 21-0, after Lykon-Leffler’s kick, with a 3-yard run at the 2:43 mark.
With 28 seconds to play Evan Woodward hit Lincoln Chimics for a 6-yard scoring strike. Then, with 10 seconds left, Mason Smith recovered a fumble in the end zone. Lykon-Leffler hit both extra points for the 35-0 lead.
Troy would get two passing touchdowns in the second. The first was a 4-yard reception by Chimics from Woodward with 7:14 on the clock.
Then, with 3:52 left to go before the half, freshman Spencer Martin hit Joseph Frye for a 21-yard strike.
Lykon-Leffler hit both PAT’s for a 49-0 lead.
The Panthers got on the scoreboard with 39 seconds left in the half when Cooper Shaw hit Charles Aumick with a 19-yard scoring strike for a 49-6 score at the break.
NPM got a second touchdown with 3:21 left in the third quarter on a 51-yard George Perry run to make it 49-13.
Troy immediately answered as Smith returned the ensuing kick-off to the house. Lykon-Leffler finished off the day 8-for-8 on extra points for the 56-13 final.
