The Wellsboro Girls Track team finished 6th out of 23 teams, while the boys finished 17th overall at the Bald Eagle Classic, hosted by Lock Haven University, on Friday, April 19.
The Lady Hornets were the top NTL team with 45 points. The boys scored 10 to edge out Sayre (8), Canton (6) and North Penn-Mansfield (3). Troy's boys team finished 4th overall (68.5).
Junior Annie Gehman (4-ft, 6) tied for 15th in the high jump with freshman Ella Boyce (4-ft, 4) finishing 30th and sophomore Kristina Belz (4-ft, 4) in 32nd. Gehman was 9th in the long jump (15-ft, 8.25) and 5th in the triple jump (33-ft, 8). Freshman Megan Newruck (29-ft) also finished 27th in the triple jump.
Senior Grace Harlan (28-ft, 3.75) was 17th in the shot put, sophomore Rowan Butters (56-ft, 7) was 38th in the discus, and senior Sara Seeling (98-ft, 7) finished 8th in the javelin.
Freshman Lauren Kosek (8:09.68) won the steeplechase and set a new school record. She was also 6th in the 1600m (5:30.56) and 2nd in the 3200m (11:25.01). Belz (20.44) finished 33rd in the 100m hurdles and freshman Piper Hoprich (12.94) was 2nd in the 100m and won the 200m (26.88), and Seeling finished 18th in the 300m hurdles (53.54).
Wellsboro finished 8th in the 4x100m relay (53.04).
For the boys sophomore David Seeling (5-ft, 10) took 6th in the high jump, junior Micaiah Fitch (18-ft, 1.5) was 27th in the long jump with junior Emmanuel Posada (16-ft, 5.75) in 43rd, sophomore Jonathan Carl (37-ft, 2.5) was 20th in the triple jump, and senior Noah Morey (39-ft, 5) was 21st in the shot put. Morey threw 118-ft, 6 to finish 11th in the discus and added a 7th place finish in the javelin (150-ft, 5) while senior Watson Feil (147-ft, 1) coming home in 8th.
Seeling was 21st in the 110m hurdles (18.71) and 19th in the 300m hurdles (45.98), Carl was 25th in the 100m (12.12) and 8th in the 400m (53.52), sophomore Max Macias (4:45.99) was 9th in the 1600m and 6th in the 3200m (10:23.30), sophomore Jude Cuneo (2:11.84) was 19th in the 800m, and Fitch (26.69) was 36th in the 200m.
The team is back in action Tuesday for a tri-meet with Athens and Canton at Canton.
