Hornets Fall To Rival North Penn-Liberty, 53-23

The Wellsboro Varsity Wrestling team fell to rival North Penn-Liberty, 53-23, Thursday.
After picking up a forfeit at 107 lbs. by freshman Mason Greene, the Mounties rattled off 7 straight wins to go ahead, 42-6. The Mounties earned 4 pin fall victories and 3 forfeits.
Senior Mason Nowak broke the streak by picking up a forfeit at 160 lbs.-+
The Hornets won two of the final four matches as junior Wyatt Kilburn scored a 23-7 tech fall in 4:30 over Wyatt Nybeck at 189 lbs.
Senior Hayden Stevens won the Hornets' final bout in the match, a 1:45 pin fall over Gavin Stubblefield at 215 lbs.
The loss drops the Hornets to 0-9 (0-3 NTL). The team is back in action this afternoon in a non-league match at Lewisburg.
