Canton softball rallied late but couldn't overcome a 14-run deficit early in their NTL loss to Sayre, 16-11.
Sayre opened up a 15-1 lead midway through the third. Canton would out score them 10-1 the rest of the way, and had bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't get that one hit to get all the way back.
Tara Gilbert (1-for-5) had a home run, with 2-RBI, and a run scored, as Jaylee Ward (3-for-3) had two doubles, two runs scored, and 2-RBI.
Charleigh Anderson (3-for-3) was perfect from the plate, doubling, scoring twice while driving in a run, as Nevaeh Vroman (1-for-5) had a double with a run scored, and an RBI.
Addi Pepper (1-for-2) scored twice, with Alyssa May, and Trinity Acla both crossing home. Tiffany Acla added an RBI.
Gilbert went the distance in the loss, striking out seven with eight walks, 10 hits, and nine earned runs out of the 16.
