Senior Paige Logsdon hit a home run in the Lady Hornets' 13-2 loss to Troy on Friday, March 21.
Wellsboro trailed 5-0 before Logsdon sent a deep shot over the left-center fence. Logsdon's homer was only one of four hits by the Lady Hornets in the game. Freshmen Rylee Coolidge and Teagan Novinger, and junior Harleigh Cleveland added the other three hits, with Cleveland hitting a double.
Troy increased their lead to 6-1 in the 4th inning and 7-1 in the 5th with singles runs in both innings before the Lady Hornets were able to score again. In the top of the 6th, freshman Adelyn Frantz led off with a walk then advanced to scoring position on Coolidge's hit before stealing home for the Lady Hornets' 2nd run.
Troy added six more runs in the sixth to close out the game.
Frantz pitched a complete game, allowing 12 runs (5 earned) on 11 hits with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.
Kali Ayres went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Troy while Erinn Knapp pitched 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 10 strikeouts.
Wellsboro falls to 0-2 on the year (0-2 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action Tuesday against Athens.
