The Wellsboro Swim teams both brought home 11 place finishes at the Williamsport Coaches Invite on Saturday.

The Lady Hornets scored 81 points while the boys finished with 57. Danville won the girls meet with 295 points and Tunkhannock took home 1st in the boys competition with 400 points.

In the girls event the 400 Free Relay team of seniors Makenna Robbins and Kristina Belz, sophomore Piper Anderegg and freshman Joelle Bull swam a new PR of 4:19.38, dropping 11 seconds off their previous time.

Robbins placed 4th in the 200 IM (2:27.64) and was 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke (1:14.40). Both PR's and District IV qualifying times.

Belz was 13th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:21.87) and was 31st in the 50 Free (29.73) (new PR and district qualifying time).

Anderegg set a new PR in the 500 Free in 5:49.04.

Bull finished 11th in the 200 Free (2:29.92) and 45th in the 50 Free (31.53).

For the boys, junior Max Mascho was 10th in the 100 Back (1:05.54) (new PR) and 19th in the 50 Free (25.19).

Sophomore Wyatt Sporer was 10th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:16.11) and 20th in the 50 Free (25.23). Both times were new PR's.

Sophomore Matthew Robbins was 1th in the 50 Free (24.35) and 13th in the 100 Free (54.14).

Sophomore Eli Shrawder was 31st in the 200 Free (2:49.42) and 38th in the 100 Free (1:12.90).

Freshman Elijah Kennedy was 44th in the 100 Free (1:22.25) and 51st in the 50 Free (32.51).

Freshman Conlen Whitsell was 40th in the 100 Free (1:14.71) and 54th in the 50 Free (33.29).

Freshman Austin DeShazo was 14th in the 100 Fly (1:04.82) and 15th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:24.51).

Mascho, Robbins, DeShazo and Sporer also swam in the 200 Medley Relay, finishing 5th overall (1:56.06).

"Wellsboro swimming had an outstanding day at the Coaches Invitational at Williamsport High School yesterday," head coach Jenn Sporer said. "Our girls 400 Free Relay swam the event for only the second time this season, and they knocked it out of the park! They dropped 11 seconds, which put them into 7th place overall and elevated their time we'll use for district by quite a bit. Every single one of the girls swam a personal best in their individual event(s) on top of close out the meet as the last event of the day with this outstanding relay time.

"The quality of swimmers that we have representing Wellsboro speaks to the 11th place finish. On the girls side, with only four of them competing, that's incredible! All four of our girls will be swimming at the District IV championships in a few weeks, both days of competition. It's hard to explain how amazing that is, because programs are lucky to have a few swimmers qualify. 100% of our girls will be competing and we're really proud of that!

"It is so great to have Matthew Robbins back in the pool and watch him working his way towards his District goals after sustaining a serious concussion at the Elk Lake Invitational in January," continued Sporer. "I'm so proud of the Medley Relay time that the boys generated on Saturday - this moved them up in the rankings as we prepare for Districts in the coming weeks. The work that Wyatt and Austin produced in the technical events of breaststroke and butterfly Saturday was also great to see - they continue to drop time and position themselves well for Districts. Maxwell has really evolved this season as a strong backstroker - watching him drop over a half a second and be incredibly aggressive on his turns during the 100 Backstroke Saturday, was exciting to watch.  I'm incredibly proud of our entire team this season in how they have carried themselves, worked hard, delivered beyond expectations, and pushed through illness and injury. Coach Anderegg and I so pumped that we are taking 8 swimmers to the District 4 Championships in Williamsport in two and a half weeks - both days - in only our second season of swimming as a PIAA recognized high school team. It's going to be a banger of Championship meet for Wellsboro High School!"
