The Lady Panthers of Northern Potter made the trip across Route 6 for a Saturday afternoon non-league game, which saw them defeat the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team 42-27.
The Lady Hornets found themselves trailing by five, 9-4, after the opening quarter, and were then outscored 15-7 as NoPo widened the gap to 24-11 at the half. NoPo went on an 8-5 run in the 3rd to extend their lead to 32-16. Wellsboro outscored NoPo 11-10 over the final eight minutes.
Sophomore Adelyn Frantz led Wellsboro with 12 points, sophomore Kate Bryant added 7, freshman Kya Lawton pitched in 6 points, and senior Lily Wagner rounded out the scoring with two points.
Emma Haynes led all scorers with 14 points.
Northern Potter swept the afternoon, winning the JV game 26-14. Sophomore Amelia Hulslander finished with 6 points, freshman Dillyn Patt added 4 and sophomores Lacie Brutsman and Jennifer Belz chipped in 2 points each.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 4-12 overall. The team is back in action at Canton on Tuesday.
