The Wellsboro Lady Hornets Basketball team came up on the losing end to Wyalusing, 60-33, Wednesday evening after making the long trek east across Route 6.
The Lady Rams outscored Wellsboro 13-1 in the opening quarter and doubled up the Lady Hornets 30-15 at the half after a 17-14 2nd quarter. Wyalusing increased their lead with a 22-point 3rd quarter, taking a 52-25 lead into the fourth. Both teams scored 8 points apiece to close out the game.
Sophomore Adelyn Frantz scored 11 points to lead the Lady Hornets while freshman Kya Lawton finished with 9. Sophomore Kate Bryant added 8 and freshman Lena Rothermel added 5 points.
Lawton added 11 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals, Bryant had 3 steals, and Frantz, Rothermel and senior Lily Wagner all had 4 rebounds.
Wellsboro turned the ball over 26 times.
Alysha Botts (17) and Elizabeth Kilmer (14) led Wyalusing.
Wellsboro dropped their 3rd straight JV game, falling to the Lady Rams, 35-21. Freshman Shayla Hamblin led the way with 8 points, while Rothermel and sophomore Madison Nagy had 4 points apiece. Sophomore Jennifer Belz added 3 points and sophomore Aileen Bowers rounded out with two points.
Wellsboro falls to 3-6 (1-4 NTL Large School Division). They host Towanda Friday.
